More than 5.6 million Afghans have been forced to flee their homes and communities due to insecurity and violence and an estimated 600,000 Afghans have been newly displaced inside their country this year alone.
Today, 38 million Afghans find themselves facing one of the worst humanitarian crises on the planet with millions unable to pay for food or basic goods, putting half the country at risk of starvation. In the winter of 2022, ECCO provided Winter Relief Aid such as tents, blankets, and Imperishable Food Packages for Displaced Civilians living on the streets in Kabul city of Afghanistan.
